The Boat - Swamp Angel

Let's start with the name, Swamp Angel. My first boat was a flat bottom skiff that I primarily fished inshore, and was typically plagued by mosquitos. The first settlers to southwest Florida (circa 1920 or so) referred to mosquitos as Swamp Angels. Let me use it in context, "be careful out there tonight or else the swamp angels will carry you away!" You get the picture.

Regardless of the boat I own, Swamp Angel will be her name.

Swamp AngelToday, I operate a 2007 World Cat 33 Ft. Tournament Edition Center Console, which is a catamaran hull powered by twin Yamaha 250 hp Four Stroke engines. The beauty of a catamaran hull is the soft ride in choppy seas, a broad beam for tons of fishing room, and shallow-water draft, which allows me to easily fish inshore and far offshore. This boat will very comfortably accommodate up to 6 anglers on a fishing platform unrivaled in her size and class.

HelmThe Swamp Angel has been rigged with top-of-the-line Electronics from Ray Marine and Simrad. The starting point is the E120 multifunction display screen (pictured), incredibly bright and a large 12.1". The display screen ties in the Raystar GPS, Raymarine 18" Radar and the Raymarine Auto Pilot. I also have an underwater camera tied into the display, and reaches down to the bottom for a unique view of the what's down there without getting wet. The Simrad is a full featured redundant GPS system with sidescan for viewing underwater structure in a 3-D view. I have an integrated Ray Marine VHF radio and a Polyplanar stereo. For night fishing, I have deck lighting around the interior hull and T-Top for optimal visibility, including an aft spotlight and forward spotlight.
